In a decisive moment of national leadership, Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a high-level strategic meeting at his residence, 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, on May 10, 2025. This critical session brought together India’s top defence and security brass amid increasing geopolitical and internal complexities.

The meeting was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, CDS General Anil Chauhan, along with the chiefs of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. Senior officials from relevant ministries and security think tanks were also present.

According to an official release from the Prime Minister’s Office, the meeting reviewed the present national security posture and preparedness of the Indian Armed Forces. Sources indicate that recent escalations along the northern and western borders, intelligence alerts, and maritime surveillance updates were key discussion points.

The presence of Ajit Doval, India’s chief national security strategist, suggests emphasis on counter-terrorism frameworks, intelligence integration, and potential deployment shifts in vulnerable sectors. India’s cyber command and space security verticals may also have been briefed.

Unified Command: Institutional Significance

Military experts note that the combined presence of the Chief of Defence Staff and service chiefs reflects the operational importance of synergy under the Integrated Theatre Command model. The review may have included war-game assessments, logistics support chain readiness, and joint command interoperability updates.

This high-level meeting comes amid rising calls to speed up integration of tri-services and redefine India’s battlefield doctrines to include drone warfare, asymmetric operations, and psychological response readiness.
